A Lost Love Takes a Long Time to Die by Good Dog

This song has that slow indie jam fit perfectly. The lyrics come at you in this slow-motion narrative that causes you to stop, have a little rest, open your mind and contemplate… it’s almost surreal. I find the instrumentation plays to this effect. The percussion and vocal layering are so richly done. There is a mood in the vocal and a lovely balance coming from the string sections. Another special note is the impeccable Tim Smith, of Midlake fame, appearing on the flute.

I am really appreciating Jack Hardman’s (aka Good Dog) work. He has a way of sharing his introspective and idiosyncratic sound through these burgeoning neo-classic crooner tunes.
