Black Maps by Mint Julep

Husband and wife duo of Hollie and Keith Kenniff has a lush electronic skillset that adds dynamics and emotion to this powerful track. The duo is setting up to release a new album on March 19th, Black Maps is the stage setter to a new direction that feels cloudy and more dreamy. This track is an adventure, like a Friday night drive or a long train ride.

“A lot of the songs are more stream-of-consciousness than premeditated; we went with first ideas and let them guide the composition rather than planning a definitive road map– which hopefully lends itself to creating a specific and unique emotional connection.”

Keith Kenniff

I love this Shoegaze approach and find the moody restrained vocals fit the synth and bass track perfectly. There is an honesty in the tune that is very catching. Not remiss to include the analoge shapes and tones in the production, I am in awe of the big ambience that powers through the tune. The song is very free moving, and doesn’t feel restrained to the standard pop confines.
