Crutch by Mirror Shot

New London indie rock four-piece Mirror Shot release their debut single ‘Crutch’ on the 23rd of September on streaming services and cassettes. With airplay from BBC Introducing London and Amazing Radio already in the bag, their melodic, personal brand of indie rock is already making waves.

Recorded on all-analogue vintage equipment with Brian O’Shaughnessy (MBV, Primal Scream, The Clientele), ‘Crutch’ is a pocket indie rock odyssey. Infectious riffs combine with tender vocals and rich textures in an arrangement that never stops turning corners.

Written around the time of songwriter Niall Rush’s marriage, ‘Crutch’ reckons with the strange details of relationships that really last, and the conflict at the heart of marrying young. It’s (probably) the only queer love song you’ll hear this week with a Dragon Ball Z reference, in any case.

The upcoming video uses footage from a London Lesbian and Gay Youth Video Project documentary produced in 1982 about the LGBT experience for young people in London (“Framed Youth: Revenge of the Teenage Perverts”), preserved by the LCVA.
