A really driving tune akin to the Violent Femmes and other more acoustic driving pop-punk tunes. I love the restrained vocal that flows throughout the tune. There is a warmth that really carries into the more introspective elements, including the solo spaces.
You can hear the band’s more grunge rock influences, there is a really nice balance with that and the more pop-punk feel. I think this feels much more cathartic, a song about saving a relationship, and it feels tight.
Chicago’s duo “No Star” have been friends since childhood; Ryan Thomas and Robert Donile have shared this love of music and been working on their craft for the last 14 years, and fortunately for our sake, this is possibly their best work, enjoy.
