Fat synth and tight melody make me a happy listener… HESS has nailed it with I’ll Drive. The smooth vibe is very 70s rich; deep textures of sound, layered and diverse as the track moves from a smooth slow jam into a vibrant punchy soundtrack.

Loved by the New York music media for his work in his longtime rootsy rock band, Mail the Horse, Hess is now bounding into his soloist role and separating himself from his peers. His brand of inspired vintage melody and layers of retro synth texture is unique and inviting. The falsetto on this track, I’ll Drive, is exceptional as the track really moves into the psych-rock/synth-pop field, with the soft dreamscape HESS creates.
