Lure Mice Condemn Erase by John Vanderslice

This is the first single from Vanderslice’s new EP. This upcoming EP was written at home, away from the analog environment at his San Francisco studio, Tiny Telephone. This is John’s first all-digital recording, and his most prominent use of electronics on an album.

The track comes at us with a bold intro and eclectic instrumental pace. Lyrically, there is the John Vanderslice I remember, his unrelenting depth, and passive voice still has a haunting quality that I truly adore. I find the electronics in the track came out strong, but this is new and adds some diversity that mostly works. It’s a bit quirky at times, but always engaging. I look forward to the full album Eeeeeeeep on August 21st.
