My Name by Skott

Skott, an alluring Swedish pop vocalist, has a stunning voice, that captures her listeners. This track is warming, but bold in its delivery. The kit is nicely balanced with electronics and delicious melodies.

Releasing her new album this month, Skott has created a powerful track that truly stands out.

This song celebrates the power of your own name turning it almost into an enchantment. The lyrics revolve around a broken relationship from the past, and now this name’s out there haunting the person who can’t escape the memories or hurt they might have caused. It is a twisted break up anthem – empowering but with a darker side to it.

Skott has used a balance of electronic and captivating traditional instrumentation to build a wonderful experience. Skott’s label, Dollar Tree, was created to release her new album, allowing her the freedom to not compromise on her artistic approach.

“It’s ok to show your teeth a little sometimes, and not worry too much about pleasing others or playing it safe, which I think many of us can find ourselves doing at times,” she continued. “I feel like starting my own label kind of runs in the same mindset.”

I love the horns in this track, there’s a rigidity in the traditional elements that bring a nice touch, earthy and robust, but produced so warmly in the mix that they resonate throughout giving this track so much character.
