Ouroboros by Super Cassette

The lyrics of Ouroboros center around the toxic dynamic of an abusive relationship. The song examines the perspective of someone stuck in in an unhealthy partnership, unable to pull themselves out because of the codependency they’ve built with their partner.

The song started out with the lyric “you don’t love me like I do you”, and, to emphasize the sick love that can be shared in an abusive relationship, was reinterpreted to mean “we don’t love each other in the same way” rather than “you don’t love me at all”.

Mirroring the vacillation between submissive love and the desire for independence, the music sways between swirling, spacey melodies and driven, kinetic outbursts.
