River by Evan Castle & The Southern Tier

This is an incredibly comfortable groove by Evan Castle and The Southern Tier. The bass is just the right infectious rhythm, the guitars are settling and tight, while vocally, Evan has captured a rich melody that fills your heart with warmth.

I think the tone has more maturity and depth than earlier works by the band. This song is crafty, drips in emotion and offers passion throughout the vocal. River is very balanced throughout. The track most definitely has a Nashville sound, however the roots and grit are everywhere. There are places where I swear someone has brought back early Black Crowes records or shifted into a melody that compares to another southern rock classic.

Hats off to Evan Castle, I can’t wait to hear more.
