Run Away by The Civil Union

Run Away blasts you from the start, this brilliantly balanced 90’s synth-pop tune pushes some heavy melody and lush harmonies between the husband and wife duo. The track looks into the lives of those immigrating to Canada, fleeing war and civil unrest with the hop of finding a more peaceful life.

The Civil Union are a wonderfully talented duo, who have had a run with some shit luck, dealing with personal sickness and theft of their studio equipment. The band really formed during the illness that left vocalist Naomi in hospital awaiting surgery. Her husband would text her melodies to songs and ask for lyrics. This process formed over a dozen tunes and launched the duo forward to becoming the Civil Union.

The result in this track is astounding. They have truly crafted a lush melodic tune that really drives. This is a brilliant work, and proof that something beautiful can come from a shared trauma.
