The transitions in this track are really quite ingenious. I enjoyed the meandering in the guitar and the vocalist’s raw vocal. There’s a real connection with the southern country roots vibe. I like some similarity with Wilco, albeit there is a nice electronic component in this tune that I dare say I’ve never heard from Wilco.
The vocalist has a bit of Kurt Cobain in his delivery, which gives that authentic sound. “Say Hello” is an attempt to share the push and pull between the desire to be alone and the need to share your life with someone you love. Relatable, sometimes challenging, but nicely framed lyric. I wouldn’t say the tune comes across as hopeful, but there is an honesty in the track.
