Just a brilliant songwriter, Elkyn (the pseudonym of 23year old, Leeds songwriter, Joseph Donnelly) has a poetic style that weaves wonderfully full, and yearning tracks that are full of melancholic imagery.

“Something is about not feeling anything. It’s about all the things I tried in a pretty desperate attempt to just feel something, but ultimately finding myself stuck in the same self-destructive cycle”.

This tune has the most wonderful little synth line that captures innocence in the vocalist and throughout the production. There are some wonderful little comparisons to Pete Yorn and some other Cali bands like Starflyer 59 (at least their less heavy endeavors). The song has a lovely withdrawn delivery that is so subtly dynamic. It’s pensive and rich with longing.

The song was recorded in Nave studio in Leeds with producer Mark Gustafson.
