Talking Out Loud by Jody Glenham

I really enjoy the big chords opening up the track. Jody draws a strong connection to 80’s female rock vocals like Pat Benatar or Chrissy Hynde. However, Jody brings that era and pulls it into a much more modern sound. I hear the connection to Mazzy Star and Sharon Van Etten, although I think her style is much more distinct than that.

Overall, I enjoyed the production on this track, nice synth and electronics paired with the traditional instrumentation. Great balance in the mix and solid maturity in the progressions. I think the melodic leads in the keys and steady rock riff does a great job amplifying her powerful vocal.
