The Great Divide by Grids & Dots

Australian melodic pop bands are redefining the landscape lately. Grids & Dots are another fantastic example of this.

pop bands are redefining the landscape lately. Grids & Dots are another fantastic example of this. I love the soft palate that visual designers, Daniel and Carmen Han-Minikus, along with drummer-philosopher Gray Thomas have created in this new song, The Great Divide.

This song really comes from a shoegaze style, nice driving beat, soft female vocal, and washy guitar riffs. I think the vocals from Daniel are perfectly paced, while the warmth and balance with Carmen are really fantastic. There is a steady edge to this song, it sits in a nice pocket and rolls along keeping me entranced with the melodic transitions and change of pace.
