The Missing Road is an eclectic offering by Ben Cooper, Radical Face, the indie folk singer songwriter connected with The Hidden Hollow. By the way, if you haven’t you should check this out.
I love the pace in this song, the vocal delivery is soft and deliberate, it is poetry. The song itself was written after a reading of Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken,” a brilliant, and classic look at the divergence of paths, The Missing Road is naturally akin to that theme.
I have, of course, read it before, but it hit me differently this time. Perhaps I was more open to it because I so abruptly found myself on a road I have never imagined. Whatever the case, it got me thinking about other “almosts” — those roads I nearly went down, but inevitably chose another. And I caught myself wondering about those maybes, but not in a negative way. More in a curious manner, I’d say.

The instrumentation is fabulous, the guitar is well played and sits really comfortably in the mix with the cello, played by his partner Josh. This is a contemplative listen, but one that needs to be enjoyed slowly, like a nice bourbon.
