Madeline Finn has released a deep, dark sonnet that tears the senses and prods at the heart. Vocally this is maybe the nearest resemblance to the passion of Jeff Buckley I have been blessed enough to encounter. There is a tinge of Fiona Apple and other notable folky-female contemporaries, but the instrumentation in this is much moodier; a bit of grime to the track propels the tune above just another folk-pop contemporary.
The song is soulful, passionate, haunting, and simply brilliant. Enjoy…. in a dark room, streetlights flashing through the window, cascading off the books on shelves, and the prints you keep on the wall, a drink in your hand.
Cheers.
