“Lonely in America” is a song from my new album ‘America, Dreaming’.
I wrote this song on a trip to New York City. (Being from the Canadian Prairies, this trip is no small matter.) I realized that New York is a massive place, and I know nobody in it. I reflected on how challenging it would be to get a new start in this city, as so many people have attempted over the years.
An American-citizen born and raised in the heart of the Canadian prairies and maturing on the west coast of British Columbia, Noah Derksen writes with the groundedness of harsh Manitoba winters mixed with the optimism of British Columbia’s coastline.
