I have been a fan of Pete Yorn for years. Honestly, the intimate and perfectly timed release of “musicforthemorningafter” was a really cool revelation to simple songwriting and honest, unpolished vocals. Coming out of the grunge rock movement in the late 90’s to a more subtle use of guitars and stripped down acoustic rock.
The new EP with Scarlett is great, love the vocal combination of the two and appreciate the overall vibe. I don’t feel like the EP is much of a departure from their previous album, “Break Up,” released in 2009. A little simpler in the melodies and sonic elements, overall a nice addition to the story that seems to be unfolding in their musical partnership. Bad Dreams is a great little driving song that does well for the overall direction of the 5 song collection of tunes, personally, I’m more a fan of Cigarillo, playing that on repeat… “wooo – oooo.”
