Post-punk upstarts New Age Healers offer a glimpse into the Pressure cooker of modern life with their song “Scars”. The song is written from the perspective of a woman juggling the demands of raising children while also yearning for a creative outlet, a situation that lead singer/guitarist Owen Murphy can relate to through stories of his mother’s mother. The band, which formed in 2015 with the hope of making great art and building strong friendships, has undergone some lineup changes over the years but has maintained its core mission. Guitarist Jeramy Koepping, who joined the band in 2018, has added his own sonic stamp to the songs with his atmospheric guitar playing and impeccable sense of melody. With vein-popping vocals, searing guitars and propulsive rhythms, “Scars” is a raw and honest portrayal of the challenges faced by modern women.
