Falling Again by Emmrose

Emmrose, the 19-year-old indie-pop sensation from New York, has always been known for her evocative lyrics and soul-stirring melodies. With her latest single, “Falling Again,” she takes listeners on a haunting journey through the harrowing experience of a panic attack. But this isn’t just any song; it’s a raw, unfiltered reflection of a real-life episode that Emmrose herself endured.

The inception of “Falling Again” is as intense as its lyrics. Emmrose recalls writing the song in the throes of a panic attack. “The lyrics were my literal symptoms,” she reveals. The process was spontaneous and visceral. As she sat down at the piano, a melody emerged, almost as if it was waiting to be discovered. But the intensity of the moment was such that she could only hum the melody, struggling to breathe.

What’s even more perplexing is the sudden onset of this panic attack. “It really came out of nowhere,” Emmrose admits, unable to pinpoint any specific trigger. However, the silver lining is that she hasn’t experienced another episode since. Perhaps, in a way, “Falling Again” served as a therapeutic outlet for her.

The production of the song is meticulously crafted to mirror the emotional turmoil described in the lyrics. It’s a rollercoaster of sensations, with trippy moments juxtaposed against euphoric highs, all underpinned by an ever-present sense of anxiety. The broken vowels layered under the vocal melody further accentuate this feeling of spiraling out of control.

For those unfamiliar with Emmrose, her journey in the music industry has been nothing short of remarkable. A native New Yorker, she signed with Secret Road Music for sync licensing and is recognized as a Groover Obsessions Artist. Her debut EP, “Hopeless Romantics,” was released just a week before the infamous COVID lockdown of 2020. With her live shows canceled due to the pandemic, Emmrose took to the digital realm, performing weekly live streams from her home. This move resonated with thousands of fans worldwide, who found solace in her music during those uncertain times.

Fast forward two years, and Emmrose’s discography boasts 20 singles. “Hopeless Romantics” clinched the title of Best Pop Album at the 2020 WAM Awards. Her single “The Grass Was Greener” made waves on Spotify, especially impressive considering it was entirely recorded and produced remotely during the lockdown. Emmrose, from her Manhattan bedroom, collaborated with producer Mike Abiuso in his Brooklyn apartment, proving that art knows no boundaries. Other notable achievements include her song “Five Months” being featured in the indie film “Searching for the Wave” and “Waitlisted” airing on MTV’s Teen Mom in November 2021.

“Falling Again” is not just a song; it’s a testament to Emmrose’s resilience and her ability to transform pain into art. It’s a reminder that even in our darkest moments, there’s a melody waiting to be discovered.
