Gold St Mkt drops another huge track that seems perfectly timed with the upcoming election in the US. “Fashion,” is a narrative and experiential exhortation of living in the US during 2020.
…dealing with coronavirus lockdowns, unemployment, police brutality, and mass protests, all being eclipsed by the faux, performative action of those not directly touched by these issues.
This track is an upbeat fun tune with fat synth and a tight beat. It feels a little like M83 and Kenny Loggins (Dangerzone) had a baby; I freakin’ love it. Take it for what it is on the surface, a terrific energetic track soaked in 80s retro nuance, or dial into the lyric a bit and delve into the struggle and protest that is expressed throughout.
