As summer begins to feel further away, so does the kind of love that Berlin-based artists JONAH communicates through their newest single “Husk My Love”; this kind of love always seems to have an expiration date.
The band describes the story behind their new song as “a poem for a selfless, pure love; one that you feel only once in your life”.
JONAH’S upcoming EP soundtracks the perfect long trip on the road. Angelo Mammone vocalizes touching narratives through haunting tonality, while spherical guitar elements, driving drums and undeniably catchy tunes allow for stays in your head for a long time after you’ve listened to it and melancholy creates beautiful pictures.
The music video for “Husk My Love” shows a young couple on an emotional trip through the Berlin countryside, filmed on one of the last summer days. Mammone, whodirectedthevideo, was accompanied by filmmaker Bastian Kempf, where they took their road trip through the fields, woods and lakes. A certain question was always amongst the visuals:
What if today is the last day you spend with the one you love the most and then your soulmate disappears?
JONAH are a musical duo comprised of musicians Angelo Mammone and Christian Steenken, where self-direction is their main principle and spherical dream-pop becomes the only form of communication. Both Mammone and Steenken write, produce, perform and record on their own.
Their first single, “All We Are“, became an infectious hit and was used in 2014’s Vodafone campaign. Now with over 20 million streams on Spotify alone, JONAH has proven to be one German act to listen out for.
