The single “No Going Back,” caught my attention last month. Jacksonville native Yuno is an eclectic singer/songwriter caressing the pop, hip-hop, R&B soundscape. I’m not gonna lie, his guitar solos aren’t fantastic… think raw, really raw… But the simplicity and soul in the vocal is a major draw. “So Slow” is a real stand out track; the groove and simple layered vocal riff are just outstanding.
The production is clean, highlighting tracks with rolling bass, eclectic beats, and ambient-pop vocals. Recently signed to SubPop records, I look forward to the direction the label will take this seemingly melancholy artist.
