Fantastic tune by Edinburgh-born, London-based Samuel Nicholson. As a regular on the once, live London music scene, Sam has great tone, both vocally, and instrumentally. The subtleties in this track are simply stellar, accompany that with a well-paced flow and an exceptionally pleasing layered kaleidoscope of guitars and you have a lovely recipe for success.
The overall production is quite relaxed, there is a calmness to the track that is comfortable. I find Sam’s vocal to be rich, the underlying punctuality in his slurry speech, and his rootsy rambling is so well played, a little like a young Cohen. Honestly, the songs muddy playfulness is such a draw for me.
