L.A.’s latest band to cause some heads to turn is the alt-rock group, The Only Ocean. By blazing a path all to their own making, the quartet of young indie rockers has released this new single, “Wasted Days.” The track follows on the heels of “Watch It Fall,” a brilliant anthemic rock tune that portrays the band’s emotive youthful energy, while “Wasted Day’s” brings a bit more culture and subtle new wave elements to the table.
Recorded, mixed, and produced by Jonathan DeBaun, a mainstay in the L.A. music scene, known for his efforts with The Mars Volta, Mastodon, Antemasque, and others. The tune is absolutely dancey, bringing some subtle instrumentation and smoother velvety vocals. There is a real comparison to the Killers and even early choruses by the Cure or other darker Brit-pop bands.
