Whiskey Burns by Samuel Tucker Young has this brilliant rolling vocal melody that just stings. I think the meaning in the lyric is accentuated with the gravel in Sam’s tone. Honestly, the pace in the vocal, the picking on the guitar, and the movement in the banjo line are all really spectacular, oh, and pair those with a really bitchin’ harp solo to close, and this is a winner.
Sam shares that this song was recorded during the height of quarantine this summer. The lyrics depict the ups and downs in his feelings of living life in a progressivly disenfranchised world. The lyrics are quite poetically placed, and come through as being sincere.
